Fishing with Diversity covers the activities of the Colne group of companies. The parent company, Colne Shipping, was a major operator of British fishing vessels and together with the proceeding companies, achieved over 50 years of continuous fishing from Lowestoft. Included in the book is an overview of all the Colne companies, and also a comprehensive database of over 150 vessels. The once substantial Colne presence in the offshore oil and gas industry is extensively covered, as are the vessels involved in that work.
The book has 184 pages and features 220 photographs of which 140 are in colour. The photographs include steam and diesel powered drifters, MFVs, tugs, offshore standby vessels and the various types of trawlers owned by the Group. Of great interest to readers in other parts of the UK are the former Grimsby, Hull, Aberdeen and Fleetwood vessels purchased in the 1970s and 1980s. The majority of these ended their working days at Lowestoft. One section in the book includes photographs taken at sea on board the large beam trawler, LT1005 St Anthony.
